Tutor requirements and standards
NI Tutors is a self-service platform. You create and maintain your own tutor profile (subjects, levels, bio, qualifications you list, availability, and hourly rate). We do not, as a matter of course, verify your qualifications, obtain Access NI checks, or collect references on your behalf. You are responsible for ensuring you meet any legal, regulatory, or safeguarding requirements that apply to you when working with children or young people in Northern Ireland, and for holding any disclosures or registrations the law requires for your circumstances.
Profile and listing
- Provide accurate, honest information in your profile, including qualifications and experience you choose to display
- Keep your subjects, levels, availability, contact-related fields, and hourly rate up to date
- When you publish your profile, meet the completion rules shown in the app (for example required fields and, where applicable, a minimum hourly rate of £20)
- To receive payments for sessions booked and paid through the platform, complete Stripe Connect (payment setup) when prompted
Professional standards
- Maintain professional conduct in messages, sessions, and all use of the platform
- Respect student and family privacy and confidentiality
- Follow applicable safeguarding and child protection expectations; report concerns through appropriate channels
- Deliver tutoring in line with what parents and students reasonably expect from your profile and agreements you make with them
Payment Terms
Session payments and platform fee
- Tutors set their own hourly rates on the platform (subject to any minimum shown in the app)
- Where in-platform payments are available, parents may pay for agreed sessions through our payment provider, Stripe. Tutors receive payouts via Stripe Connect according to Stripe's terms and timelines
- NI Tutors retains a platform service fee on payments processed through the platform. The applicable percentage or promotional rate (for example a founding-tutor rate) is communicated on the site or at the point of payment
- All amounts are in British pounds (GBP) unless otherwise stated
- Chargebacks, refunds, and payment disputes may be handled according to Stripe's processes, our cancellation and booking rules where they apply, and these Terms
Payments outside the platform
If you arrange tutoring or payment entirely outside NI Tutors, you do so at your own risk. Those arrangements are between you and the other party; our platform fee and payment protections described above do not apply unless payment goes through our checkout flow.
